MHP is one of the world’s most competitive poultry rearing and processing companies. Our Poultry and Related Operations segment produces and sells chicken and chicken products, sunflower oil, convenience food, mixed fodder and other related products.

Chicken

We own four principal chicken farms, two breeder farms — which include facilities for producing hatching eggs — three fodder mills, and a number of storage facilities for sunflower seed and grain. Each chicken farm incorporates a processing plant. We process more than 3,6 million chickens a week to produce app. 29,000 tonnes of meat per month.

Our new Myronivka chicken farm, largest in Ukraine and Europe is state of the art modern facility. It includes a new hatchery and a modern processing plant and it has a capacity to produce app. 220,000 tonnes of chicken a year.

Our wide range of chilled chicken products is sold under our flagship “Nasha Riaba” brand, which dominates the market and is sold at a premium price over its closest competitor.

Our 11 distribution centers and refrigerated delivery vehicles enable us to deliver our products, chilled as well as frozen, to our customers.

Fodder

Our fodder is produced from corn, sunflower seeds, and peas at our own mills. It is steam treated to ensure that it is free from contamination and is delivered to our farms in our own trucks.

We are the only company in the world to replace imported soy with locally-produced sunflower protein. We use unique process and proprietary technology for producing sunflower cake. Sunflower oil, by-product of sunflower cake, is exported and generates US dollar revenue.

Value-added food

We produce pre-cooked convenience food, a relatively new concept in Ukraine. Sold under our “Lehko!” brand, through distributors, supermarkets and to foodservice companies, it is gaining in popularity. MHP is Ukraine’s leading producer of innovative convenience food. The modern production lines at our MMPP facility in 2010 produced more than 21,000 tonnes of products per year (2009: 10,500 tonnes per year) — ranging from uncooked marinated meat to pre-cooked recipes. Sixty percent of the finished products, which are blast frozen to protect their flavour, are sold through distributors, the rest are sold through supermarkets and to the foodservice trade.
